The Portuguese round of the Superbike World Championship concludes with outstanding placements for the Barni Spark team, which continues to showcase its growth and competitiveness in the championship. Danilo Petrucci narrowly missed the podium in the Superpole Race, finishing in 4th place, while in Race 2, he staged a remarkable comeback, ending in 6th despite an issue at the start. With these results, number 9 remains in 3rd place in the overall riders’ standings.

A great performance also came from Yari Montella, who fought with determination in Race 2, securing a valuable Top 10 finish, repeating the excellent result already achieved in Australia.

Superpole Race: Petrucci Fights for the Podium

Starting from third position, Petrucci quickly moved up to 2nd behind Bulega, maintaining an excellent pace. On the second lap, he was overtaken by Razgatlioglu and continued in third position until the penultimate lap, when Bautista passed him, relegating him to a final 4th place.

It was a more challenging race for Montella, who, after contact with Bassani at the start, dropped to 16th and eventually finished the Superpole Race in 17th place.

Race 2: Petrucci and Montella Shine Under the Red Flag

The second race of the weekend was interrupted on the 11th lap by a red flag. Petrucci, starting from fourth position, encountered a technical issue that forced him to start slowly, dropping to 17th and needing a furious comeback. By the time of the red flag, he had already climbed to 9th position.

After the restart, Petrux continued his ascent, overtaking Gardner and Lecuona, and in the final laps, managed to surpass Bassani, finishing in 6th position and as the best independent rider.

Montella also demonstrated his growth, restarting in 12th and gaining two positions to finish in 10th, making him the second-best independent rider of the race.
