Jorge Martin of the Prima Pramac Racing team kicked off the Monster Energy de Catalunya Grand Prix weekend with a spectacular domination during the first free practice session.
Here are the highlights:
• Fastest lap: Martin set an impressive time of 1:39.579 in the last five minutes of FP1. His performance was unmatched, leaving his rivals speechless.
• Challenge with Marquez: The Spaniard led the session, with Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) trailing him by just 0.292 seconds. Marquez’s strong start could be crucial for the Catalan GP, especially considering the continuing discussions about the rider market.
• Brad Binder: Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) took third place, improving on the final lap of the session. His presence adds excitement to the weekend.
• Pedro Acosta: Pedro Acosta of the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team impressed, becoming the last rider to enter the 1:39 time group in FP1.
• Aleix Espargaro: Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) starts an exciting weekend after announcing his retirement at the end of the season. He finished in the top five on Friday morning.
• Special Livrée: Prima Pramac Racing unveiled a new livery in collaboration with Spanish artist Miguel Caravaca. Both Martin and Franco Morbidelli will sport this unique design during the Catalan GP.
Sunday’s race instead saw Jorge Martin dominating until six laps from the end ,when in turn 5 (the same one that had seen Bagnaia fall in Saturday’s Sprint race) Pecco overtook Martin with six laps to go taking the race win by force.
Martin still retains the first position in the World Championship.
