The Sunday of the Barni Spark Racing Team, supported by Accossato, ends with excellent results, but also with a bit of bitterness in the mouth for a victory in Supersport faded only after the checkered flag due to a penalty. Yari Montella crossed the finish line of race 2 ahead of everyone, after a good battle with Huertas, but at turn 9 of the last lap the marshals pointed out a “track limits” of the #55, an infraction that results in the loss of one position. Yari thus took the second step of the podium, ending the weekend with a P3 in race 1 and a P2 in race 2. His gap to Huertas in the championship is now 25 points.
In Superbike another great day for Danilo Petrucci who finished both races as the best independent rider, in ninth position in the Superpole Race and sixth in race 2. In the morning Sprint over the 10-lap distance, Danilo hit his goal of getting into the top nine positions to gain ground on the grid for race 2. Starting thirteenth, Petrux was able to make a comeback thanks to a double overtaking move with two laps to go on the Yamaha riders. In race 2, his start from the second row was good and allowed him to gain another position right away to get in Bautista’s slipstream. Petrux tried to attack him, overtaking him, but the world champion responded and the two got back on the Yamahas of Rea and Locatelli, both of whom he overtook on laps 7 and 14. Danilo thus finished in sixth place and with a total weekend haul of twenty points. In the championship standings he is seventh, second among independents at -3 from Iannone.
#9 Danilo Petrucci
Given the times and results of the weekend, I would have liked to see what would have happened in the race if we had started from the second row after setting the fourth fastest time in qualifying. We were fast all weekend, in Superpole Race, despite the tussle, I managed to do ninth and gain two rows; in Race 2 we had the same pace as Bautista, although in the last part fatigue affected me: I have no strength in my right arm and in changes of direction I I compensate with my back, which now hurts a lot. Despite everything we have shown that we can be competitive and this makes me confident.
#55 Yari Montella
This race means so much to us because from yesterday to today we only changed tires. We had the certainty that the problems of race 1 were not due to the set-up and today we were back competitive for the win. When Huertas tried to pass me and went long. I realized it was time to push to create a gap. I tried to take some
advantage and not make mistakes, obviously I made a decisive one. We know we potern play it every race and they know it too. Fortunately Most is only a week away
